Are you seeking a leadership opportunity in our community? Do you have an interest in contributing your skills to a thriving non-profit organization?

Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory board members are responsible for strategic planning, fiduciary oversight, development and management of programs and procedures, and enhancement of the experience at the Oak Park Conservatory.

We seek Board Member candidates with diverse backgrounds who are passionate about helping us carry out our purpose, broaden our horizons, and bring a wider audience to enjoy all that the Oak Park Conservatory has to offer.   

The organization’s activities are supported by a Board of Directors, 3 part-time staff members, and our dedicated volunteers.

Our Mission

The mission of The Friends is to promote community interest in the Oak Park Conservatory, to offer educational and recreational opportunities, and to support projects which benefit the Conservatory and its visitors.

Our purpose is to deepen and enrich the visitor experience for diverse populations at the Oak Park Conservatory.

Board Expectations

By serving on the board of The Friends you will be contributing to a well-respected, historical institution that brings pride and cultural value to the community.

The Friends board members serve a two-year term and must be able to attend at least 8 out of the 11 monthly board meetings held on the third Monday of each month at 7 pm, except in December, when there is no meeting.

Board members are asked to serve on two committees, participate in special events and support fundraising either by donations or by volunteering for activities that raise funds, or both.

Thank you for your interest in joining the Friends Board of Directors. Prospective board members are welcome to apply if they bring skills and/or experience which fill the needs of the organization. Prospective board members must meet Park District of Oak Park requirements as a volunteer.
