Tour Docents
Share your love and knowledge of our collections with tour groups. Docents walk with tour groups through the showrooms, focusing on the Conservatory’s three ecosystems. Tours available for school groups, adults, diverse learners, garden clubs and other interested groups.
Time commitment: 1 hour per tour, as scheduled
Wednesday morning Story Time
Share your love of books with children outside in our beautiful Discovery Garden or inside in the Rubinstein Room! Weekly readers will lead groups in stories and songs. This program runs outside during the warmer months and moves indoors during the winter months and during inclement weather. Bilingual story time (English & Spanish) will be held the first Wednesday of each month. Spanish speakers needed.
Time commitment: 45 minutes on Wednesdays. Programs run at 10am
Toddler Exploration Time
This program runs once month on Friday, September through May (no December). There are two sessions, where toddlers and their caregivers will experience nature through a story and hands-on activities. This program is geared towards 18 months to 5 year old children.
Time commitment: 3 ½ hours on Fridays. Programs run once a month, September-November and January-May
Discovery Garden Exploration Time
Thursdays in June, July, August our education volunteers offer hands-on nature-themed activities outside in our Discovery Garden. Participants learn about native Illinois Ecosystems and have fun playing in the garden.
Time commitment: 2 hours on Thursdays. Programs runs from 10am – 12pm
