As the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory celebrate 40 years of supporting the Conservatory, we’re excited to introduce a brand-new offering at our 37th Annual Plant Sale: Herb Kits.
These curated kits are perfect for gardeners, home cooks, and anyone who enjoys flavor from freshly grown herbs. Herb Kits also make a unique Mother’s Day gift, or a thoughtful surprise for friends, neighbors, or hosts.
Our annual fundraising Plant Sale began 37 years ago and originally featured 90 varieties of herbs and scented plants. In those early years, shoppers loved the themed “Gourmet Gardens,” each featuring five complementary herbs designed to grow and cook well together.
Inspired by those popular collections, we’re bringing the idea back in a new way.
Each kit includes five carefully selected herbs for just $25, a $5 savings compared to purchasing plants individually. The Herb Kits are sold as a collection in a compostable carrier with a handle.
Whether you’re planting in a garden bed, a patio container, or a sunny kitchen window, these kits give you everything you need to start growing fresh herbs right away.
Essential Eats Herb Kit
A versatile collection of culinary staples perfect for everyday cooking and grilling. These herbs form the foundation of countless savory dishes and bring bright, fresh flavor to your kitchen.
Includes: Genovese Basil, Chives, Parsley, Sage, and Oregano.
Continental Classics Herb Kit
This fragrant selection highlights beloved herbs from European kitchens. Ideal for roasted meats, sauces, salads, and vegetable dishes, these herbs deliver timeless flavor and aroma.
Includes: Dill, Marjoram, Thyme, Rosemary, and Tarragon.
Happy Hour Herb Kit
Add a garden-fresh twist to cocktails, mocktails, and summer beverages. These herbs provide vibrant aroma, color, and flavor for drinks, garnishes, and homemade simple syrups.
Includes: Thai Basil, Lemon Verbena, Lavender, Orange Mint, and Perilla (Shiso).
